تزاید الاھتمام بدراسة سلوك واتجاھات الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر منذ بدایة التسعینات ویعود ھذا الاھتمام إلى
تنامي تدفقات الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر إلى الدول النامیة في فترة التسعینات، وزیادة تدفقات رأس المال إلى
الدول النامیة لیست ظاھرة جدیدة إلا أن تدفقات رأس المال في فترة التسعینات تتمیز بزیادة نصیب تدفقات رأس
المال الأجنبي المباشر كما أن ھذه التدفقات اتسمت بالاستمراریة والاستقرار

والتنظیمیة إضافة إلى توافر الخبرات الفنیة للتعامل مع الإستثمارات الأجنبیة من حیث تطورھا

- This paper aims to analyze the dynamic relationship between foreign direct investment FDI and different kinds of risks in the MENA countries. Using the vector autoregressive technique on the country level for eleven MENA countries during the period of 1980-2003, the findings indicate that despite the fact that, the macroeconomic performance and the political (in) stability are important issues in affecting the decision of FDI and determining its location; however, the cultural environment, particularly corruption level, is also having its special effects on this theme in the MENA countries.
These results should attract the attention of policymakers; since they reveal that: it is neither the economical risk nor the political risks that mostly perform threats and shy away FDI from the MENA countries (as usually point to), but it is a contagion “disease” that is called the cultural risk.

This paper presents results of a survey that has been conducted to analyze and trace
the significant factors that affect FDI inflow to the Jordanian market. The survey findings
are expected to contribute to a better understanding of trends and prospects of FDI
inflows to Jordan; through concentrating on the following broad objects: First identifying
the main risks that affect FDI inflows to Jordan. Second: exploring the main components
of each factor (economical, political, and cultural) that contributed most to FDI decision
making in Jordan.
Using a Conditional Logit model, it is found that despite the political factors to have
most significant influence on FDI decision to Jordan, there is a significant hidden role of
the cultural factors that drive political ones; in the way political factors could be
