  • Padé approximation for extended boundary condition method in electromagnetic scattering analysis
  • Published at:Not Found
  • The Padé approximation technique in conjunction with the extended boundary condition method (EBC) is implemented to solve the scattering problem over a finite frequency interval. The algorithm is based on expanding the system equations in their power series, and then finding a recurrence relation for the series coefficients. Fairly good results are obtained.   © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 32: 100-101, 2002.

  • Finite element analysis of two-dimensional EM scattering via Padé approximation for complex permittivity
  • Published at:Not Found
  • We present a computationally efficient algorithmwhich combines the finite element method with Padé approximation. Thecombination is used to solve the problem of transverse magnetic and transverseelectric scattering from homogeneous lossy dielectric cylinders over a continuousrange of the complex permittivity variable by requiring the finite elementsolution only at a single complex permittivity value. The proposed methodis based on (1) assuming a power series expansion for the unknown solutionvector, the excitation vector, and the system matrix, (2) substituting thisinto the system matrix equation, and (3) finding the recursion relation for the solution vectors.

  • State-space formulation of two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering from dielectric cylinders
  • Published at:Not Found
  • A numerical method is presented for the problem of transverse magnetic or transverse electric scattering from infinitely long, lossy dielectric cylinders of arbitrary cross section. The method is based on the solution of a system of linear ordinary differential equations in the state-space form. The solution is achieved by finding the state transition-matrix and the zero-state response of the respective system. Numerical results are presented for cylinders of various cross sections, and they are compared with the results obtained by either exact or approximate numerical methods.
